NCS are also very knowledgeable in understanding a baby’s sleep needs and patterns and can help with forming a daily schedule that will fit your family and lifestyle. When families are interested in achieving optimal sleep for their infant by 16 weeks, a NCS and/or a Newborn Sleep Consultant would be the perfect person to help you achieve this realistic goal. NCS are well versed in postpartum mood disorders and are trained to recognize the signs early so parents can receive the help they may need sooner rather than later. All NCS are CPR certified every two years and are proud to be the second line of defense for your infant (with the first being the parent,) and will know when a visit to the pediatrician is necessary. NCS are experienced with setting up a nursery for multiple babies. They can help parents learn how to parent more than one baby at a time and help with establishing routines to accommodate twins, triplets or more. It can be very comforting to new parents to know that a set of experienced eyes and ears are there to notice when something is just not right with your baby and that it might be time for a visit to the pediatrician. NCS will work days or overnights with your infant to help teach and guide you into parenthood or will take over infant care for you while you have some much deserved time away or provide overnight care so that you can catch up on a solid night’s sleep. The most important job of a NCS is to provide parents with a piece of mind knowing that their baby is getting the best possible care while they get a much needed and deserved break.
