This can be confusing to most new parents due to the fact that, outside of the United States, a “baby nurse or night nurse” are terms used for nannies, mostly overnight nannies that have basic infant or child care experience. In the United States, using the terms “ baby nurse or night nurse” is illegal unless that person is a Registered / Licensed Nurse. Unfortunately, some nanny agencies in the US still use this term for overnight nannies or NCS. To be sure you are paying for the care for your infant that you think you are – be sure to ask agencies that use this term if a particular “baby nurse or night nurse” is a Registered Nurse, that way you can avoid paying a higher “nurse” rate when not necessary.
